about

Consider these liner notes...

There are two reasons I did everything on this album myself:

1.) When you're able to play every instrument you need, it's easier (in its own way) to do it yourself than to explain to other musicians what you want. Not that they can't capably play it, but everyone has different styles so invariably you may NEVER end up with the exact sound you're trying to capture. That could end up being good or it could be bad, but I didn't want to take that chance because...

2.) These songs are all very personal for me, even if the lyrics aren't really saying anything a million other songs in existence have already said. All but two songs on this album were written within the past six months because of one particular failed romantic endeavor. The good thing about being dumped by somebody for whom you care deeply is that, if you're an artist, it gives you a lot to mine from, material-wise. The bad thing is... well, literally everything other aspect of it. I hope if you get dumped, you're an artist of some kind because, dear God, I could not imagine going through this as a non-creative person. Long story short, all these songs are about me losing an important relationship and working with others on it would've felt weird. Though for some reason releasing the songs onto the internet seems somehow less invasive...

I'd like to point out that I know these songs are all essentially the same thing just rewritten with different lyrics and music. I'm aware. Don't be mean and point it out to me.

I'd like to thank the select few people who gave me feedback here and there on how the songs sounded as I worked on them.

I'd like to give a huge thanks to Bill Dodd who mastered the album in a whirlwind session. He really helped these sound like they weren't just recorded on a cheap recorder in my bedroom.

I'd also like to thank the girl who inspired these songs (well, except the two that were written long before all this). You truly are the one person I couldn't have done this without. Although I wish everything that inspired these songs didn't happen, I like to think that me letting my creativity flow like this is the best possible outcome.

Lastly, I'd like to thank all of you who have read this and/or downloaded the album. If you read this and didn't download the album, just download the album. Don't be a jerk. I hope you enjoy these songs. I think they're halfway decent pop songs, and that's coming from somebody who's constantly way too hard on himself.

To the aforementioned (and often-mentioned) girl, I hope these songs don't upset you.
