"Mary Lou" is something I started humming at about 3am one night while I was trying to sleep. I immediately made a voice memo on my phone so I could remember it. I'd say the finished result sounds like The Everly Brothers if they were trying to show off on guitar above their own skill level (I spent way too long trying to play these solos the best I could).
lyrics
(chorus)
Mary Lou, Mary Lou
can't you hear me calling out to you?
I know you're far away, but I just want to hear you say
that you love me too, Mary Lou
(guitar solo)
Do you remember the county fair,
where we met on that warm summer night?
You said you'd stay by my side
but then you left, didn't say goodbye
now my arms ain't holdin you tight
(chorus)
(guitar solo)
I saw you walkin down the street
with another man arm in arm.
Tell me, was he always there?
No wait don't tell me I don't care
Just let 'em send me off to the farm
(chorus)
(bass solo)
Maybe there's no hope for me now
I'll just pack my things and leave town today.
But if you should look behind
and it makes you wanna change your mind
I won't let nothin stand in our way
